Man arrested on child molestation warrant

A Northeastern Floyd County man was arrested last week on a felony warrant charging him with child molestation. 

According to the warrant: 

30-year-old Joseph Taylor Paynter Jr. molested a female under the age of 16 at his Bunratty Drive home between May 9 and May 11 of this year. 

Man accused of threatening family member, violating court order

A Silver Creek man was arrested after allegedly threatening to cut a family member’s throat.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

49-year-old Christopher Brian Vaughn was under a court order to have no contact with the victim.

He also ran from officers and resisted arrest.

In the room that Vaughn fled to, police located methamphetamine, marijuana and other drug-related items that were in plain view.

Vaughn is charged with terroristic threats and acts, aggravated stalking, possession of meth, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, misdemeanor obstruction, and a probation violation.

Man accused of hiding drugs in police vehicle

A 30-year-old Atlanta man is facing drug charges in Floyd County.

According to jail records:

Joshua Thomas Elcombe had a small bag of methamphetamine while being transported to jail.

The meth was located under the back seat of a Floyd County Police patrol vehicle.

Elcombe is charged with possession of meth, possession of drugs past the guard line, and tampering with evidence.

Woman accused of exploiting an elderly person

A Lylerly woman originally arrested on November 19 for a probation violation is also charged with a felony count of exploitation of the elderly.

According to Floyd County Jail records: 

32-year-old Amber Nicole Farmer made numerous purchases using the financial account of the 78–78-year-old victim between August 28 and September 22 of this year.

The $421 in fraudulent charges resulted in the victim’s account to be overdrawn.
