Man charged in 2020 pursuit

Charges have been filed in connection with a pursuit that ended with a crash back in July of 2020.

According to Floyd County Jail records and arrest warrants:

28-year-old Devin Jon Malik Ervin of Rome fled from a Georgia State Trooper who was conducting a road check on Second Avenue and East 12th Street.

Ervin struck two light fixtures and a retaining wall on South Broad Street near Butler Street, sustaining serious injuries to his leg and back.

He was also in possession of a stolen firearm, marijuana, an ecstasy tablet, two sets of digital scales, and cash.

Ervin is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of over an ounce of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of drug-related objects, misdemeanor obstruction, failure to maintain a lane, reckless driving, failure to obey a traffic control device, DUI, and no seatbelt.
