The Cave Spring City Council has placed a proposed sign ordinance onto First Reading but there are expected to be more changes made before final adoption.

The city first visited the issue back in 2007.

Cave Spring City Manager Nick McLemore said there have been some concerns about billboards being placed in the downtown area out to Highway 411, and the ordinance would spell out how and where billboards can be placed.

He added that they have researched other municipalities to see what they’re doing.

He called the ordinance a “balancing act” meaning the goal is to protect private property owners while also being fair to business owners.
