Man charged with aggravated assault

A 23-year-old Rome man is accused of assaulting a 65-year-old woman at his Callier Springs Road residence early Thursday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Daniel Louis Jackson III took the victim to the floor and then wrapped the victim’s own arm around her neck to choke her.

Jackson and the victim reside together.

Jackson is charged with a felony count of aggravated assault.

Man accused of cashing forged checks

A homeless man has been arrested on felony warrants charging him with 3rd-degree forgery.

According to the warrants:

35-year-old Jason Leon King presented a forged check for $2,869.96 at a bank on Three Rivers Drive in Rome and two forged checks totaling $5,233.30 at a bank on Martha Berry Boulevard.

Both incidents occurred on December 12, according to the warrants.

Man charged with being a fugitive from justice

A Calhoun man is lodged in the Floyd County Jail on a felony fugitive from justice charge.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

58-year-old John McKinnely Hudgins is wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant in South Carolina.

He is also being held on a probation violation.
