The Floyd County Board of Education has approved the purchases of PCs and Chromebooks, track and field equipment at all four high schools, and a new 5th-grade math curriculum.

The 200 Dell personal computers will cost just over $171,000 and most will go to any teacher or para pro that did not get a new computer in the first round of replacements.

The 1400 Acer Chromebooks will cost just over $438,000 and will start a new replacement cycle.

Not knowing what finances will look like in 2029- 2030 the decision was made to replace enough Chromebooks per year so that by then the school system would have replaced the entire fleet.

Meanwhile, the contract with the Partac Pete Corporation is not to exceed to $225,000 and will pay for pole vaulting sets, hurdles, discus nets, and other items needed to host local track and field events at each high school.

The county school board also approved a quote of close to $131,000 for the new math curriculum for 5th graders.
