On Monday, January 29th at 4:14 pm, Georgia State Patrol Troopers were dispatched to an accident involving a motorcycle and a school bus on Gilreath Rd and Peeples Valley Rd NE in Bartow County.

According to GSP reports, the driver of the motorcycle (A Kawasaki Ninja) attempted to improperly pass the school bus in a no-passing zone resulting in the right side of the motorcycle striking the front left side of the bus.

The motorcycle lost control and traveled off the north shoulder of Gilreath Road before it came to an uncontrolled final rest off the north shoulder of the Road.

Neither the bus driver nor the students were injured, and there was minimal damage to the bus.

Thursday, February 1st, Bartow County Coroner Joel Guyton confirmed that the driver of the motorcycle, 26-year-old Demario Calhoun of Canton, passed away as a result of his injuries.
