Report: Man resisted officers, swallowed marijuana

A Cartersville man is facing multiple charges after scuffling with officers.

According to Floyd County jail records:

30-year-old Romaine Antonio White resisted being placed into handcuffs and refused to get into the police patrol vehicle during his arrest on Park Avenue in Lindale.

While being searched at the jail, he put suspected marijuana into his mouth and swallowed it.

White refused to spit the marijuana out and started to fight with officers as they tried to put him back into handcuffs.

He threw elbows, grabbed and squeezed an officer’s legs, and scratched an officer’s hand.

White is charged with felony and misdemeanor obstruction, tampering with evidence, and simple battery against a law enforcement officer.

Woman charged with felony shoplifting

A 29-year-old Rome woman is accused of stealing more than $581 in merchandise from Dunham’s in Mt. Berry Mall.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

The merchandise included several hats, several pairs of pants, and three fishing reels.

Kylin Denise Williams is charged with felony theft by shoplifting.

Woman charged with violating sex offender law

A convicted sex offender is accused of failing to notify the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office when she purchased a couple of vehicles.

According to the arrest warrants:

45-year-old Maria Isabel Valdez of Rome bought a 2008 Honda Accord back in 2017 and a 2005 Jeep Liberty in March of 2022.

State law requires sex offenders to notify the sheriff’s office of vehicle purchases.

Valdez is charged with two felony counts of violating Georgia’s sex offender registry law.
