Man charged with aggravated assault

A 21-year-old Rome man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly started shooting at a woman on East 16th Street.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Keson Messiah Lovingood also told his girlfriend that he was coming back to her house and “shoot it up.”

A two-year-old child was present during the incidents.

Lovingood is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, and acts, pointing or aiming a gun at another, and 3rd-degree cruelty to children.

Man accused of making threats via text messages

A Rome man has been charged with a felony count of terroristic threats and acts in connection with an incident on September 5.

According to an arrest warrant:

32-year-old Alexander Lawrence Clayton sent text messages to a family member stating “I’m kill you for real” and “I am going to kill as many people as I can.”

Clayton was living at a residence on Weathington Road at the time, according to the warrant.

Man charged with elder exploitation

A 31-year-old Rome man is accused of stealing from an elderly person.

According to an arrest warrant:

David Allen Jenkins took thousands of dollars from the victim between July 1 and October 13 through online shopping, cash advances, and cash app transactions.

Several online banking apps were created without the knowledge of the victim.

Jenkins was supposed to be the victim’s caretaker.

He is charged with exploitation of the elderly.

Man charged with shoplifting, possession of a controlled substance

A Rome man is facing a felony count of possession of a controlled substance following his arrest for shoplifting at the East Rome Walmart.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

25-year-old Ronnie Jackson Vanmeter took a Roku Express valued at $29 and was then found with three pills, believed to be a Schedule II controlled substance.

Vanmeter is also charged with possession of pills not in the original container.
