Wednesday is the deadline to enter the Rome Christmas Parade without a late fee.

You can still be in the parade after Wednesday; it will just cost you $50 more, according to Jerry Rucker co-chair of the Christmas Parade Committee.

“It costs $100 to put an entry into the parade,” he said. “If you’re late, and you’re not in by the 15th, it’s going to cost $50 more for us to do that. So, remember, November 15, it has to be in by that date.

According to Doug Walker with the City of Rome, proceeds from the parade go to the Light Up Rome campaign.

“The money that is generated by the parade, the biggest chunk of it, goes to the Downtown Development Authority, earmarked for Christmas decorations.”

The theme for this year’s parade set for November 28 is “CHRISTmas – It’s a Wonderful Life.
