The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded a contract for bridge rehabilitation at various locations in Floyd and Walker Counties.
Bridges on Highway 27 South over Silver Creek northeast of Primrose Road and the railroad tracks that run parallel to Maple Road near Lombardy Way are slated for rehab along with the Highway 53 Bridge over the railroad tracks near Shannon Circle and Highway 101 over Highway 27 near East 12th Street.
The lone Walker County Bridge is on State Route 341 over Chickamauga Creek.
The work entails applying a polymer overlay on bridge decks, joint replacement and the tightening of all loose anchor bolts.
The low bidder for the project was S&D Industrial Paining of Tarpon Springs, Florida in the amount of $1,356,238.50.
The estimated completion date is October 2024.
