A portion of Old Dalton Road in the area near Horton Bend Road was shut down Friday afternoon due to an accident involving an overturned street sweeper.

 Floyd 911 dispatch received reports from witnesses of the accident that the driver was trapped inside the vehicle and had suffered injuries.

The Rome-Floyd Fire Department was able to extricate the driver out of the vehicle using the Jaws of Life tool. AdventHealth Redmond EMS transported the driver to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.  

The Floyd County Police Department closed the roadway until the vehicle could be removed from the roadway.
