Cave Spring man charged with animal cruelty

A Cave Spring man is accused of failing to provide adequate food, water, and veterinary care for a dog.

According to the arrest warrants:

49-year-old Virgil Shawn Wiley also kept a soiled diaper on the dog for an extended period of time and abandoned the animal on North Avenue in Rome.

The warrant stated the dog suffered from an infection that caused permanent damage to the inside of its right ear.

Wiley is charged with two counts of cruelty to animals and a single count of aggravated cruelty to animals.

Man charged with drug trafficking

The execution of a search warrant at a home on Lewis Road late last week resulted in the arrest of a Rome man on a felony count of trafficking methamphetamine.

According to the arrest warrant:

58-year-old Richard Douglas Holcomb was found with more than 28 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers also found multiple bags of marijuana, digital scales, and a stolen handgun.

Holcomb was additionally charged with possession of meth and marijuana with the intent to distribute, theft by receiving a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of drug-related objects.

Man arrested for battery, meth possession

A 28-year-old Rome man has been arrested on charges of simple battery, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug-related objects.

According to Floyd County Jail records and an arrest warrant:

Marquez Jayquione Jones punched and kicked a woman at a home on Kirton Street.

He was then found with two glass pipes, a plastic pen, and a small metal container that had suspected methamphetamine residue.

A needle was also recovered.

Woman accused of damaging property

A Greenwood, Mississippi woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail Sunday on a felony count of 2nd-degree criminal damage to property.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

23-year-old Ariana Hunter damaged several items in a home on Horseleg Creek Road during an argument with a family member.

The report states that Hunter was intoxicated when the incident occurred.
