The Rome City Commission will hold a public hearing Monday regarding the 2023 property tax rate.

The proposed combined rates for the City Government and City Schools of 27.076 will result in no increase in the millage rate from the prior year but will be an increase of 9.73% over the calculated rollback rate.

For a property with a current market value of $175,000, the tax bill would be $1,895, which is $168 more than with the rollback rate.

The estimated tax for a property with a current market value of $250,000 would be $2,707, $240 more than the rollback rate.

Monday’s hearing will take place during the city commission meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Additional Public Hearings will be held on Thursday, July 20 at 10 a.m. and Monday, July 24t at 6:30 p.m.
