The Rome Police Department is investigating the theft of more than $77,000 in fireworks.

According to the incident report:

Officers responded to the Super Show Fireworks 2248 Shorter Avenue and were told by the vendor that he closed the fireworks stand at 10 p.m. on Wednesday and when he returned at around 9:43 Thursday, he found most of his products missing from the trailer.

The lock used to secure the trailer was also missing.

Security video from a nearby convenience store showed a U-Haul truck and another dark-colored vehicle arriving after midnight and staying for just over 20 minutes.

About 30 minutes later, the U-Haul returns and stays for over an hour.
