One dead following shooting at Callier Forest Apartments early Tuesday

Tuesday, June 27, 2023–10:00 a.m.

A 30-year-old Rome man is dead following a shooting early Tuesday at the Callier Forrest Apartments on Dodd Boulevard.

According to a new release from the Rome Police Department:

At around 1:40 a.m., officers responded to the scene and located Te’Vian Markez Williams, Sr. with a gunshot wound to the leg/groin area.

Officers rendered aid to Williams until Emergency Medical Services arrived and took over.

Williams was transported to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Williams’ body is being sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The Rome Police Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and assumed command of the investigation.

Evidence was collected and witnesses were identified.

The investigation led them to a person of interest who is wanted for questioning. That name will be released at a later time.

This appears to be an isolated incident with the victim and person of interest knowing each other.
