Report: Woman bit State Trooper during traffic stop

A 32-year-old Rome woman is facing a felony obstruction charge after she allegedly bit a Georgia State Trooper’s hand during a traffic stop Tuesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Amber Ladawn McMurray was stopped on Highway 101 at Rockmart Road for driving 78 miles per hour in a 55-mile-per-hour zone.

She then refused to sign the citation and would not get out of her vehicle.

A struggle ensued and the trooper was bitten, sustaining a laceration to the hand.

The incident occurred in the presence of a child who was in the vehicle.

McMurray was also charged with battery, simple battery on a law enforcement officer, misdemeanor obstruction, 3rd-degree cruelty to children, and speeding.

Man accused of possession 11 stolen firearms

A 35-year-old Rome man is accused of possessing eleven stolen rifles and shotguns.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Paden Elliott Brownlow claimed he purchased the firearms for $1,300.

Several of the guns still had the price tags on them.

The price of one of the firearms was more than Brownlow claimed to have paid for all of them.

During the execution of a search warrant at Brownlow’s Huffaker Road residence, officers found a total of 30 firearms, three of which did not have a displayed identification number, and one of the firearms was a sawed-off shotgun.

Suspected methamphetamine was also recovered.

Brownlow is charged with 11 counts of theft by receiving stolen property, 11 counts of theft by bringing stolen property into the state, 30 counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, three counts of possessing a firearm with an altered identification mark, and single counts of possession of a sawed-off shotgun and possession of methamphetamine.
