Man charged with aggravated assault, battery

A 40-year-old Rome man was arrested at his residence on Watts Way early Sunday after allegedly putting his hands around the throat of one family member and punching another in the neck.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Carolos Albert Hernandez-Tello was intoxicated and resisted being put into handcuffs.

He then fought with staff at the hospital as they tried to restrain him for medical clearance.

Hernandez-Tello is charged with aggravated assault, battery, obstruction of law enforcement, and two counts of 3rd-degree cruelty to children.

Pizza Delivery driver charged with forgery, theft by deception

A second delivery driver has been arrested for allegedly stealing from a local pizza restaurant.

According to the arrest warrants:

21-year-old Eric Bernard Hightower of Rome used a Marco’s Pizza app to sign customers’ names to falsely authorize tips electronically.

The transactions cost the business an estimated $253.72 between April 8 and May 4 of this year.

Hightower is charged with theft by deception and 2nd-degree forgery.

Late last month, 43-year-old Toddrick Rayon Burdette was arrested for similar transactions he made while a delivery driver, which cost Marco’s $381.36 between February 1 and May 3 of this year.

Woman charged with auto theft

A 39-year-old Rockmart woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail over the weekend on a felony warrant charging her with theft by taking.

According to the warrants:

Mae Lee Woods stole a 2004 Honda Accord belonging to a Rome man on Oct. 25, 2021.

The vehicle was valued at $5,000.

Man charged with drug possession

A Rome man is facing charges after he was found with crack cocaine, an amphetamine pill and a Glock 9mm earlier this month.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

21-year-old NaKyaus Cortez Waddell also had plastic baggies for packaging and selling drugs.

The Glock was loaded with hollow point rounds.

Waddell is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a Schedule II drug, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of drugs not in the original container, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
