The Floyd County Board of Education is expected to hire Ra-Lin Construction as the general contractor for the Armuchee and Coosa field houses when it meets Monday at 6 p.m. at the central office on Riverside Parkway.

Ra-Lin is also expected to be awarded a $125,000 contract to demolish the old field houses.

The projects are being paid for with funds from the recently approved education special purpose local option sales tax, although collections won’t start until April 1, 2024. Superintendent Glenn White said they can start construction early by drawing from their general fund balance before the education SPLOST money hits their account.

Also Monday, the school board will hear a facilities update and vote on personnel changes along with an E-Rate contract, and an upgrade to the current intercom system,

The board will also recognize a number of students for their achievements.

During the pre-meeting caucus, which begins at 5 p.m., there will be a discussion regarding the partnership between Floyd County Schools and Atrium Health Floyd.
