Woman charged with theft by deception

A 27-year-old Rome woman is facing a misdemeanor charge of theft by deception following an incident in July of 2022.

According to the arrest warrant:

Jewel Denise Hoskins posed as law enforcement and made the victim believe that they had failed to appear for a court proceeding and to avoid prosecution, the victim was ordered to pay a fine.

The victim sent $1,500 to Hoskins’ bank account.

Man arrested for attempted theft, trespassing

A Rome man has been jailed on a warrant charging him with criminal attempt to commit a felony.

According to the warrant:

39-year-old Christopher Daniel Pruitt and two others were seen on camera in the carport of a home on Old Summerville Road, attempting to commit a theft.

Pruitt is also charged with criminal trespass.

Report: Man admitted to having cocaine

A Silver Creek man was arrested at Maple Road at Linden Street Monday after he was found with a white, powdery substance that he admitted was cocaine.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

34-year-old Nicholas Andrew Jones was originally pulled over by police for failing to use a turn signal and for a broken tail light.

Jones was also charged with driving without a license.
