Rome man charged with child cruelty
A Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with 1st-degree cruelty to children.
According to the warrant:
39-year-old Dawonn Ryan Scott grabbed a teenager by the back of the neck and slammed her face into the kitchen stove, causing a swollen and lacerated lip.
The incident occurred back on Jan. 21 at Scott’s home on Woodward Street.
Scott is also charged with battery.
Report: Man had stolen motorcycle, fled from police road check
A Rome man has been arrested on charges of theft by receiving a stolen motor vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude, DUI, and misdemeanor obstruction of officers.
According to Floyd County Jail records and arrest warrants:
26-year-old Carl Edward McCleese II fled from law enforcement who were conducting a road check at Fifth Avenue and Bale Street Sunday.
McCleese was also in possession of a stolen Yamaha motorcycle, valued at $6,499, between March 20 and April 14.
Atlanta man charged with stealing equipment valued at $27,000 from Home Depot in Rome
An Atlanta man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Sunday on felony warrants charging him with theft by taking and theft by receiving stolen property.
According to the warrants:
27-year-old Savon O’Shae Freeman rented a Manitou tracker and trailer from Home Depot on Hicks Drive in March and then failed to return the property, valued at more than $27,000.
Traffic stop nets arrest for meth possession
A traffic stop on Huffaker Road Sunday ended with the arrest of a Rome man on drug charges.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
31-year-old Jordan Ladell Carroll was driving his pickup truck without a valid license, registration, or insurance.
Suspected methamphetamine was then found in his right front pocket.
Carroll is charged with possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, driving with a suspended license, driving with suspended or revoked registration, and driving without insurance.
