On Friday afternoon Floyd County Schools released a public statement that rumors of a lockdown at Armuchee High School were part of a statewide hoax.

According to the school press release, Georgia Emergency Management & Homeland Security, and also Floyd County Emergency Management were made aware of several school threats received via social media outlets this morning throughout the state.

Floyd County Schools clarified in a press release: “We are having a safe and normal school day.”

Local and state law enforcement officials are working to gather more information regarding today’s threats.
