A homeless man has been arrested in connection with an assault with a makeshift ax Monday. 

According to the arrest warrant: 

42-year-old Michael Gregory Cummings hit the victim in the back of the head with the weapon.  

The incident occurred at a residence on Lavender Drive. 

The warrant states that Cummings and the victim had previously been involved in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship and had once lived together. 

Cummings is charged with aggravated assault.
