Man accused of fleeing from officers
A Rome man was jailed over the weekend on charges dating back to last year.
According to an arrest warrant:
31-year-old Jeremiah James Dean, while on a motorcycle, fled from police well in excess of 30 miles per hour over the 45-mile-per-hour speed limit on Plainville Road and Legg Road in September of 2022.
Then in October, Dean fled from law enforcement as they were attempting to execute an arrest warrant at his home on Todd Street.
At the time of his arrest Saturday on Minshew Road, Dean was found with suspected methamphetamine.
He is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, felony obstruction, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, reckless driving, operation of a vehicle without a current license plate, driving without insurance, running a stop sign, violation of license class, too fast for conditions, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving without insurance, and failure to report an accident.
Man charged with kidnapping
A Rome man has been charged with kidnapping following an incident involving an adult female on Rogers Drive Saturday,
According to Floyd County Jail records:
40-year old Basilo Robles-Hernandez dragged the victim up the driveway of the home while she yelled for help and then held her to the ground.
Robles-Hernandez is also charged with simple battery.
Report: Man confined woman in Garden Lakes home
A 27-year-old Rome man was arrested Saturday at his Benton Drive home on a felony count of false imprisonment.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Tony Yeizon Sanchez-Lopez confined a 38-year-old woman to the residence by blocking the doorways after she said that she wanted to leave.
Man arrested for interference with government property
A 29-year-old Rome man is accused of damaging housing authority property.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Christopher Daniel Santiago carved an offensive word into the front door of an apartment on Michael Taylor Court.
Santiago also tried to flee on foot from police and was found with suspected methamphetamine once at the jail.
He is charged with interference with government property, obstruction of officers, possession of meth, and possession of drugs past the guard line at the jail.
Alabama men charged with felony shoplifting
Two Cedar Bluff, Alabama men are facing felony theft by shoplifting charges following their arrests over the weekend.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
43-year-old Gerry Dale Parker and 42-year-old Patrick Haswell Williams took more than $600 in merchandise from the West Rome Walmart.
It was then discovered that Parker had an active arrest warrant in Cherokee County, Alabama, which resulted in an additional felony charge of fugitive from justice.
Report; Man took motorcycle for test drive, kept it
A Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with theft by taking a motor vehicle.
According to the warrant:
35-year-old Steven Ashley Storey took a 2013 Kawasaki motorcycle for a test drive on Apr. 17, but never returned it.
Storey is also charged with a couple of felony probation violations and a felony count of failure to appear in court.
