Later this week a citizens committee will begin hearing presentations regarding applications for projects proposed for a special purpose, local options sales tax vote in November.  Meanwhile, a 2017 SPLOST project is about to get underway.

The agriculture center will be located on about 42 acres near Mt. Berry Mall.

According to Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord, there will be additional site visits in the coming weeks, and architectural design work is set to start this summer. The plan is to put the project out to bid early this fall.

Kate Harman was recently named the director of the ag center.

She is an avid equestrian, was raised on a farm in Cave Spring, and has strong local ties and connections to the local agricultural community.

Jay Shell has been hired as promotions coordinator and will move from his current position at the Forum River Center.
