Georgia gas prices declined at the pump compared to a week ago.

Georgia drivers are now paying an average price of $3.37 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline.

Monday’s state average is 2 cents less than a week ago, 15 cents more than a month ago, and 34 cents less than this time last year. It now costs $50.55 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Drivers are now paying $5.00 less to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.  

Local averages on Monday were $3.29 in Floyd County and Polk County, $3.26 in Bartow County, $3.32 in Gordon County, and $3.33 in Chattooga County.

“Georgians felt some relief at the pump this past weekend,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “The price of crude oil fell, causing gas prices to follow suit. If this oil price trend continues, drivers may see falling gas prices this week as well.”

Will Drivers Catch a Break at the Pump Soon?

Since last Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline remained the same, $3.66.

According to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gas demand decreased from 8.94 to 8.52 million barrels a day.

Meanwhile, total domestic gasoline stocks increased slightly by 1.3 million barrels to 223.5 million barrels.

Lower demand, alongside growth in stocks, would typically push pump prices down; however, elevated oil prices over the past month have pushed national pump prices higher in some states.
