First-Time claims for unemployment insurance fell in Floyd County from February to March.

According to the Georgia Department of Labor, there were 232 claims last month, down by 137 from the 369 filed in February.

There were 148 claims filed in March of last year.

The labor department also reported that the number of jobs in the Rome area grew by 200 over the month. There were 44,300 in March, up from 44,100 in February.

When compared to March of 2022, employment in the Rome area was up by 2,600 jobs.
