Police respond to altercation involving a firearm, make one arrest

A 27-year-old Rome man is facing drugs and weapons charges following his arrest Wednesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Following a domestic altercation with a firearm, police conducted a safety sweep of a hotel room on Highway 411 and saw suspected methamphetamine in plain sight.

A search warrant for the room was obtained and the firearm used in the altercation was recovered from inside a microwave.

Suspected fentanyl pills and methamphetamine were found in the bathroom.

The suspect, Jauan Rashaun Porter, reportedly hit a woman, causing her left eye to swell.

The victim also had red marks on her neck and face.

Porter is charged with possession of meth, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and battery.

Cedartown man charged in Silver Creek burglary

An arrest has been made in connection with the burglary of a business on Rockmart Road in Silver Creek.

According to the arrest warrants:

32-year-old Justin Van Adams of Cedartown pried open the rear door at Coosa Valley Cabinets and stole several tools.

Adams is charged with 2nd-degree burglary and felony theft by taking.

Man accused of failing to pay for services

A 55-year-old Rome man was arrested Wednesday on felony warrants charging him with theft of services and conversion of payments for real property improvements.

According to the warrants:

Douglas Lynn Carney contracted with the victim to transport a fiberglass pool from Texas to his home on Old Dalton Road.

Carney agreed to pay $7,894 for the service and materials but never paid.

Teen accused of prowling, possessing a stolen firearm

A stolen firearm landed a 19-year-old behind bars Wednesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Police responded to a location on Cave Spring Road and found Ramiro Pineda-Uriostigue prowling around private property.

The investigation revealed the teen had been smoking marijuana and was in possession of a Glock 19 that had been reported stolen.

Pineda-Uriostigue also had a false Georgia identification card and a real ID card that he found but never tried to return.

Pineda-Uriostigue was charged with theft by receiving stolen property, possession of false identification, theft of lost or mislaid property, and possession of marijuana.

Lindale man arrested on drug charges

The execution of a search warrant by Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers at a residence on The Trail Wednesday netted the arrest of a Lindale man on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

66-year-old William Michael McGee was in possession of Xanax and Gabapentin not prescribed to him as well as marijuana, smoking devices, and digital scales.

McGee is charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.

Man charged with drugs, weapon possession

A Rome man was reportedly found with methamphetamine, marijuana, and hydrocodone pills as he was being arrested on active warrants Wednesday at Industrial Boulevard at Superior Drive.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

38-year-old Randall Rayford Davenport Jr. also had a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver.

Davenport is charged with possession of meth, marijuana, and a Schedule II controlled substance, as well as possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

He was also charged with contempt of superior court and a probation violation.
