Man accused of burglarizing home, robbing victim

An East Rome man has been arrested on multiple charges including robbery, 1st-degree burglary, battery, and simple assault.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

35-year-old Marquez Jovan Ware kicked in the front door of a home on Branham Avenue, causing damage.

He then repeatedly hit the female victim, causing visible injuries to the woman’s stomach, arms, and face.

Ware also ordered the victim to drive or he was going to punch her in the face.

He then made a motion as if he was going to hit the woman.

Charges filed in connection with a brutal beating

A 23-year-old man from Monroe, Georgia was jailed in Floyd County Thursday on a felony aggravated battery charge.

According to the arrest warrants:

Mateus Brandon McDowell hit the victim multiple times in the face.

The victim sustained a broken nose and a broken orbital bone.

The incident occurred on Apr. 1 at the Stateline Bar and Tavern on Alabama.

The victim and McDowell have been in an on and off again relationship for about five years.

Drug bust in North Rome

Two North Rome residents were arrested on drug charges after Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Calhoun Avenue.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Over an ounce of marijuana packaged in multiple bags was found in the residence along with four tramadol pills, a rock of suspected crack cocaine, and a THC pen.

52-year Samuel David Jones Jr. and 37-year-old Kionna Latrice Stocks are charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of cocaine, possession of drug-related objects, possession of drugs not in the original container, possession of cocaine, felony possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

Jones was additionally charged with contempt of superior court.

Report: Woman stole vehicle, wrecked it, and then left the scene

A Silver Creek woman has been jailed on charges of theft by taking, entering an automobile, hit and run, and failure to report an accident.

According to Floyd County Jail records: 22-year Summer Larae Smallwood entered another person’s vehicle on Alexander Avenue in Lindale and stole it.

After wrecking, Smallwood stole all the contents of the vehicle that belonged to the victim as well as property from the trunk, belonging to a second victim.

The total value of the contents taken from the vehicle was listed at $2,370.

The 2006 Hyundai Sonata that was stolen had an estimated cost of $750.

Bartow County man accused of giving police his cousin’s name during a traffic stop

A Taylorsville man is accused of giving his cousin’s name and date of birth to police as they were writing him a traffic citation back on Shorter Avenue in January of 2021.

According to the arrest warrant for 43-year James Anthony Pilgrim, the deceit resulted in the cousin being arrested.

The crime was discovered in March of this year.

Pilgrim is charged with giving a false name or date of birth to law enforcement, false statements and writings, and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Report: Man signed false name to fingerprint card

A 22-year-old Rome man is accused of signing a false name to a fingerprint card at the Floyd County Jail.

According to jail records:

Jakobe Marshain Hamilton signed the name “Jacobi Brown” in an effort to conceal his identity at the time of his arrest.

Hamilton is charged with giving a false name or date of birth to law enforcement, and false statements and writings.
