Report: Woman fights back during assault, suspect charged

A 64-year-old Rome man is accused of assaulting a woman at an apartment on Blankenship Place back on April 8.

According to the arrest warrant:

Anthony Bernard McPherson choked the victim to the point where she almost lost consciousness.

In an attempt to free herself, the woman scratched McPherson in the face with her fingernails and pushed him off of her.

McPherson, who also punched the victim in the face, is charged with aggravated assault and battery.

Man accused of loitering at high school, fleeing from police

A 20-year-old Cedartown man is facing charges after allegedly fleeing from Floyd County Police Wednesday morning.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

An officer attempted to stop Braxton Alexander Ramos-Hernandez on the lot of Armuchee High School after seeing a student get into his vehicle.

Ramos-Hernandez then refused to stop, driving at a high rate of speed and passing other vehicles in the turn lane on Martha Berry Highway in an attempt to get away.

Ramos-Hernandez is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, passing in a no-passing zone, and loitering on school property.

Additional charges for two suspected gang members

Two men arrested in late March for suspected gang activity are both facing additional charges of theft by receiving stolen property.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

19-year-old Charles Maddarius Lamar Adams and 18-year-old Jakobie Jiquan Adams were in possession of a stolen firearm during the execution of a search warrant on Lavender Drive back on Mar. 21.

The Smith and Wesson 9 mm, valued at $400 was reported stolen in July of 2021.

Both Adams’ are alleged members of the Real Northside Babies Street gang and were among the seven suspects arrested for participating in various crimes in Floyd County.

Report: Woman stole $28,000 excavator, then sold it

A 25-year-old Griffin, Georgia woman had been arrested for allegedly stealing a Kabota excavator valued at $28,000 from the Home Depot on Hicks Drive in Rome.

According to the arrest warrants:

Deja Latyce Favors rented the equipment back on Feb. 16.

The excavator was later sold and then later recovered by police on a used car lot in White County, Tennessee.

Favors is charged with theft by taking and theft by conversion.

New York man charged with felony bail jumping

A New York man was booked into the Floyd County Jail on a felony bail jumping charge Wednesday.

According to the arrest warrant:

28-year-old Laquan A. Glasgow crossed state lines to avoid prosecution in Floyd County Superior Court back in 2020.

Glasgow, who lists his address as Brooklyn, New York, was booked on Mar. 30 by the New York City Department of Corrections.

He is also charged with a felony count of failure to appear in court.

According to previous reports, Glasgow was arrested in July 2020 on charges of forgery of a financial transaction card, possession of a financial transaction card forgery device, and financial transaction card fraud.

Two arrested in West Rome drug bust

Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers executed a search warrant at a residence on Ellison Street Wednesday and arrested two men on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

31-year-old Daniel Jacory Matthew Leroy Williams and 55-year-old Duncan Renaldo Johnson were found with over an ounce of marijuana and a digital scale. Both are charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and possession of drug-related objects.

Williams was additionally charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance after being found with psilocybin mushrooms and synthetic marijuana.

Woman charged with meth possession

A Rome woman was arrested on North Broad Street Wednesday on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

31-year-old Catherine Denise Rice had two baggies of suspected methamphetamine. I

She is charged with possession of meth.
