April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, which recognizes the importance of communities coming together to raise awareness and prevent child abuse and neglect. Harbin Clinic pediatricians work with families to cultivate stronger and happier bonds between children and parents/caregivers. Throughout the month, Harbin Clinic will work alongside local organizations to help provide families throughout Northwest Georgia with essential resources and education.

According to Prevent Child Abuse America, child abuse and neglect affect over 1 million children every year. Raising awareness within our community is the first step to lowering that number. By sharing prevention services and support systems, we play an active role in improving the lives of youth and ensuring safer, healthier futures for all children.

One of the ways Harbin Clinic is helping raise awareness and education is by planting “Pinwheels for Prevention” gardens at all Harbin Pediatrics locations. These pinwheel gardens represent the positive impact we can have in the lives of at-risk children when we join forces to help pave their way to a brighter and safer future.

The Exchange Club Family Resource Center is an incredible non-profit organization dedicated to providing transformative in-home education and support to Floyd and Polk County families, empowering them to create safe, stable, and nurturing homes so that their children can grow and thrive. Throughout April, the organization along with other agency partners will host several events focused on raising awareness and bringing family-centered child abuse prevention programs to the communities they serve, including free classes and training sessions.

Harbin Clinic Pediatrics Rome and Rome Davis Sabinoare are also hosting a diaper drive throughout April. In addition to diapers, baby wipes, baby oil, and rash creams are also welcome. Items can be dropped off throughout May 1st and will be donated to the Exchange Club Family Resource Center.

Harbin Clinic is honored to partner with an inspiring local organization with the mission of helping the community and advocating for children in our region.
