Man charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery

A West Rome man was arrested on multiple charges following an altercation on Glenrise Terrace earlier this week.

According to Floyd County Jail records and an arrest warrant:

43-year-old Jason Todd Spurling put his hands around a woman’s neck and attempted to choke her.

He also repeatedly hit the woman in the area of her right eye, causing a visible injury.

When the victim attempted to leave, Spurling dragged her back into the home and took her phone as she was trying to call 911.

The victim was eventually able to get away, going to a convenience store to call 911.

The report indicated the woman would need surgery on her wrist.

Spurling is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, simple battery, interference with a 911 call, and false imprisonment.

Report: Man pointed gun at roommate

A 21-year-old Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated assault in connection with an incident on Grasul Avenue.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Joahan Sergua Caldera pointed a gun at his roommate’s face and told him that if he valued his life, he would leave the apartment.

The threat was witnessed by two other roommates. During his arrest Wednesday at Turner McCall Boulevard and Riverside Parkway, Caldera was additionally charged with driving without a license and following too closely.

Man charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana

An Adairsville man arrested earlier this month for fleeing or attempting to elude is facing additional charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

23-year-old Ewell Lydell Atwater Jr. conspired with another to distribute a quantity of marijuana and was found with multiple bags of marijuana after he fled from police.

Atwater threw the drugs in a garbage can.

He is charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana, possession of more than an ounce of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, abandonment of dangerous drugs, and tampering with evidence.

Man accused of having meth at local park

A Lindale man was arrested at Riverside Park on Chatillon Road Wednesday on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

44-year-old Cecil Lynn Peek Jr. was found with suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale, and plastic bags used to package drugs.

He is charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute, and possession of drug-related objects.
