Man accused of trying to abandon dogs

A 26-year-old homeless man has been arrested on two counts of aggravated animal cruelty and four counts of abandonment of dogs.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Jeramiah Zechrah Flot released four dogs on Mango Road near Wayside Road with the intent of abandoning them

He also failed to get veterinary care for two of the dogs—one of which had a heartworm condition while the other suffered from mange.

Man charged with aggravated animal cruelty

A 71-year-old Rome man was arrested Monday at his Malone Drive residence on five counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Joel Hubert Vinson starved four dogs.

In addition, one of the dogs suffered from a severe UTI that required emergency vet care.

Vinson is also accused of failing to seek medical care for another dog that had a severe eye infection, causing the animal pain and death.

Man charged with cocaine possession

A Rome man was arrested on Alabama Highway Monday on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

41-year old Cedric Lee Jackson was in possession of a crystal-like substance that he admitted was crack cocaine.

Jackson is charged with possession of cocaine.
