Summerville woman charged with felony shoplifting, fleeing

A 31-year-old Summerville woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail Wednesday on charges of felony shoplifting, obstruction of officers, and fleeing or attempting to elude.

According to jail records:

Aylissa Marie Teague took more than $1,400 in clothing and bags from the West Rome Walmart and then attempted to flee.

Teague is also charged with reckless driving, running a red light, passing on the left, and a center turn-lane violation.

Man arrested for fleeing traffic stop

An Adairsville man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with fleeing or attempting to elude.

According to the warrant:

23-year-old Ewell Lydell Atwater Jr. refused to stop for police in the area of Third Avenue in Rome on Monday of this week.

He then reached speeds of over 60 mph, which is 35 mph over the speed limit and in a congested residential area.

Atwater was also charged with a probation violation.

Report: Woman threw brick at store

A 27-year-old Rome woman was arrested after she reportedly threw a brick at the front door of the North Broad Food Mart.

According to a Rome Police Department report:

Ashton Leighann Spears also attacked the store clerk, striking the man in the face as he tried to back away.

In addition to the shattered glass door, police also observed a broken mirror on the floor of the restroom.

Spears is charged with criminal trespass (damage to property), and simple battery.

Once at the jail, marijuana was found in her backpack, resulting in an additional charge of crossing the guard line with drugs.
