West Rome man arrested for Assault and Child Cruelty Charges

A West Rome man was arrested Tuesday in Cartersville on a warrant stating that he allegedly choked a woman and punched a minor in the chest on July 6, 2022, at a residence on Excelsior Street. According to Floyd County Jail reports 41-year-old Reginald Edward Garrett is charged with felony aggravated assault and cruelty to children as well as misdemeanor cruelty to children for allowing minors to witness the attacks. He is being held without bond.


A West Rome man was arrested Tuesday night at a home on Burnett Circle and accused of allegedly punching his mother, who is blind in her right eye, on the right side of her face. According to Floyd County Jail reports 33-year-old Michael Elias Peschel is charged with felony exploitation of a disabled adult as well as misdemeanor battery. He remained in jail Wednesday morning without bond on a probation hold.
