Jobless claims up in Floyd County, but so is employment

Floyd County saw an increase in First-time claims for unemployment insurance to end 2022.

According to the Georgia Department of Labor, there were 555 claims filed in December, which is up from 360 in November and 160 in December of 2021.

At the same time, the number of jobs in the Rome area grew by 1,500 over the year.

There were 42,000 in December 2021 and 43,500 in December 2022.
