Cartersville Police Department –

In October 2022, Cartersville Police Investigators arrested two Atlanta residents for their involvement in committing numerous Entering Auto crimes in Sam Smith Park and Pine Mountain Trail System. Weeks later, Cartersville Police Officers received continued reports of autos being broken into at the same parks. CPD Investigators determined an associate of the original perpetrators as the individual responsible for the continued break-ins.

On Wednesday morning, January 11, 2023, an auto was broken into at Sam Smith Park and responding investigators believed the perpetrators were operating a late-model grey Nissan Altima. Subsequently, Investigators located the vehicle driving through the Pine Mountain Parking lot. As Investigators attempted to stop the vehicle, it entered Interstate 75 North at Main Street and eluded officers at a high rate of speed. Shortly thereafter, Bartow County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Deputies observed the vehicle traveling South on Interstate 75 near Georgia Hwy 20. BCSO Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle and it again fled at a high rate of speed. After a brief pursuit, the vehicle crashed hitting the median wall.

Destiny Janae Glass and Hope Elizabeth Plant were taken into custody without further incident. Both have been charged with numerous entering auto, fraud, and traffic-related charges. Additionally, Ms. Glass has outstanding theft warrants in several Georgia counties and surrounding states.

CPD Investigators are working with several metro Atlanta Police Departments to solve other similar Entering Auto investigations involving this Atlanta-based group. The Cartersville Police Department wishes to thank members of the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office and their diligence and assistance in this matter.
