September 14, 2022–6:03 p.m.

STAFF REPORTS

Governor Brian Kemp was in Rome Wednesday for the ribbon-cutting ceremonies for the Sandra D. Hudson Villas on East 14th Street.

The public housing units formerly at the site were demolished in 2013, and in 2018 the Northwest Georgia Housing Authority applied for 9% tax credits and Rental Assistance Demonstration conversion to rebuild onsite.

Unit mix consists of 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom units, and the site amenities include a Leasing Office, Resident Activities Center/Community Center, mail kiosk, swimming pool, playground, and laundry center.

Units will feature tile floors, granite counters, an electric range with a vent hood, a dishwasher, garbage disposal, a microwave, wooden blinds, ceiling fans, porches or patios, and professional landscaping. Residents at this property must have a source of income.

Pets are not permitted at this property.

Others at Wednesday’s ceremony were Tonya Cureton Curry, Deputy Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs; Denise Cleveland-Leggett, Senior Vice-President of Business Development with the Integral Group, former HUD Regional Administrator-Region IV who showed a video from former HUD Secretary Dr. Benjamin Carson; and Gretchen Corbin with the Georgia Lottery.
