Rome City Commission meets Monday

The Rome City Commission will conduct several public hearings when they meet Monday night.

One public hearing is for a special use permit to convert the hotel behind Blue Fin and Fire House subs off Avenue A to 22 apartment units.

Commissioners will also consider a request to rezone from Heavy Commercial to Light Industrial for the property located at 14 and 15 Commerce Court.

The applicant wishes to use the structure as a carpentry studio and storage area.

The commission is also expected to vote on rezoning requests for a single-family home on Burnett Circle and duplexes at 301 and 303 Redmond Road.

An annexation request for property at 112 Fieldwood Road is also on the agenda.

Commissioners will read proclamations regarding National Cancer Survivor’s Day and the Champion of Georgia Cities Award and will recognize 2022 City of Rome Scholarship winners during the meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at Rome City Hall.

During the caucus, which starts at 5 p.m. in the Sam King Room, Lynn Reeves from the Area Agency on Aging will be on hand to give a presentation.
