Cartersville Police Department –

On Monday, March 21st, and Tuesday, March 22nd several calls were received in
reference to citizens hearing possible explosions. On Tuesday, March 22, 2022
Officers were dispatched to the area of 235 S Dixie Ave, Quality Inn, in reference to a
possible explosion in the back parking lot.

Officers arrested Corey Hannah and Tyler Spears for Disorderly Conduct and Terroristic Threats related to these calls.

Once on scene officers detained Hannah and Spears after several witness statements confirmed their involvement in the possible explosions. Officers then searched the area for any identifiers of an explosion. Two separate locations in the parking lot were located that appeared to be associated with an explosion.

Due to the nature of the call, the building was evacuated and the GBI Bomb Squad was contacted and assisted. The GBI Bomb Squad did collect samples from the two marks left in the parking lot that were possibly associated with an explosion.

The Cartersville Police Department and GBI did complete a search of the suspects’ vehicles and the suspects’ room with no further indications of explosives.

This case is still under investigation and additional charges may be pending.
