Rome/Floyd Fire Department extinguishes Blaze on Monday at North Fifth Ave.

According to information provided by Rome/Floyd Fire Marshal Mary Catherine Chewning, on Monday afternoon (around 4:30 PM) the Rome/Floyd Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at the Sherold Salmon Auto car detail shop located at 405 (and a half) North Fifth Avenue. 

Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters determined that the majority of the flames were confined to the far left bay of the building. Firefighters were able to save one side of the building.

There were no injuries to any employees or firefighters.

The origin and the exact cause of the blaze has not been determined and is still under investigation at this time.

According to Chewning, the fire does not appear to be suspicious and may be accidental in nature but they are still trying to determine a specific cause.
