Rome-Floyd County Firefighters responded to a structure fire Monday evening on West 11th Street.
According to Batallion Chief Greg Abbott said the large house was heavily involved in the front half when firefighters arrived on the scene.
Then they went around back to find flames also coming out of the rear of the residence.
There were people at home at the time of the fire but everyone was able to get out and no one was hurt.
The call came in at around 7:30 and firefighters were still on the scene after 10 p.m.
Smoke from the fire could be seen throughout the downtown area.
An investigator will be back out at the scene Tuesday in an attempt to determine the cause of the fire.
