The Rome Fire Marshal’s office has determined the cause of a fire that occurred on February 18 at the Grove Apartment Complex.

Fire Marshal Mary Catherine Chewning said the fire was accidental and was caused by someone in one of the apartments looking for something under a bed using a lighter.

One person was transported to the hospital for treatment and was treated and released.

One pet, a dog, died in the fire.
