Heavy rain, strong winds bring power outages

Heavy rains and strong winds brought power outages across the area Thursday night.

At 10 pm there were around 2,600 Georgia Power customers in Floyd County who were without power.

You can check the latest on power outages using the Georgia Power Outage Map.

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. Friday.

Winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are possible.

Areas at elevations above 2500 feet could have gusts up to 45 mph.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects.

Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
