GORDON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

On Friday, February 4, Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston recognized two jailors with the Sheriff’s Meritorious Service Award.”

On January 21, J.L. Fleming and C.L. Cox saved the life of an inmate who’d hung himself inside a cellblock.

After seeing the inmate hanging himself while making rounds within the jail, “Jailors Fleming and Cox’s swift response and coolness under pressure” in rescuing the inmate and initiating first aid procedures directly contributed to the saving of his life.

Due to their actions, the inmate was not seriously injured.

Their citations read that their “actions are commendable and in keeping with the highest traditions of the Office of Sheriff”.
