The Calhoun Post of the Georgia State Patrol is investigating a hit and run crash involving a bicyclist and a vehicle that occurred Saturday evening on Highway 53 and Brownlee Mountain Road in the Plainville area.

The preliminary investigation shows that at around 7:26 p.m., a man on the bicycle was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene after impact. 

The bicyclist was flown to Erlanger in serious condition. 

A possible description of the vehicle involved that left the scene is an older model orange cab dump truck with a black bed. 

It appeared to have white paint splattered on it. 

The vehicle was hauling short logs at the time of the crash.
