Floyd County reported 279 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.
21,893 Floyd County residents have now tested positive for the virus since the pandemic started.
Our two-week total is at 2,292.
We are now at 340 total deaths, with seven reported last week.
The COVID-19 vaccines have been available for more than a year now, and according to the department of health 48% of Floyd County residents have had one dose, 44% are fully vaccinated, and 17% have had a third dose.

Taking a look at COVID-19 in the schools, Rome City Schools reported 48 cases in the last week.
West End had the most at 13.
Rome High had 9 and Main reported 8.

Floyd County Schools reported 74 student cases and seven staff cases from January 24 to January 28.
Model Elementary had 11 cases and was the only county school above the 2% positive rate.
