FLOYD COUNTY JAIL RECORDS

An inmate is facing felony charges after he reportedly assaulted a nurse at the Floyd County Jail on Sunday.

According to jail records, 50-year old Joe Matthew Nix struck the nurse several times in the head and neck, knocking her to the ground.

He then continued to assault her.

Nix also caused injury to two jail officers.

He is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution, and felony obstruction of officers.

Nix has been in jail since last week when he was arrested for putting a knife to a woman’s throat on Moran Lake Road.
