Rome and Floyd County will once again honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this coming weekend.
The 2022 King Celebration will be a little different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It will be all virtual, except for the “Freedom March.”
The events start on Saturday with a virtual prayer breakfast at 9 a.m.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. K. Scott McClure of the Flatrock Baptist Church in Rome.

On Sunday, the Ecumenical Service will be at 5 p.m. and will feature Rev. Timothy D. Careathers, senior pastor at the Friendship Baptist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The weekend will conclude on Monday with the “Freedom March” on Broad Street.
It will start at 11:30 a.m. at the Corner of East 1st Avenue and Broad Street and will go to the Rome City Auditorium.
Face masks are required.
A drive-thru lunch will be served at the Rome Civic Center at 12:30 p.m.
