The Floyd County Board of Education has approved a social media use and networking policy for school system employees.
Essentially, employees will be held to the same professional standards in the public use of electronic media as for any other public conduct in accordance with other School District policies and state and federal law.
Employees cannot use social media for personal reasons while they are at work and it must not interfere with their ability to do their jobs.
The policy also sets guidelines for communicating with students via social media.
