Man charged with child cruelty, aggravated assault

A 33-year old Rome man was jailed late last week on charges of 1st-degree cruelty to children and aggravated assault.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Timothy Rayshaun Searcy choked and strangled a child under the age of 18.

Searcy also allegedly struck the victim in the face and body, causing bruising, and a cut to the victim’s leg.

Searcy is also charged with battery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
